Woman Abducted in Yerevan: Attempted Escape from Vehicle
A resident of Yerevan has reported her abduction, leading to an investigation by the Yerevan investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee. The investigation has uncovered several significant details regarding the abduction and the violence inflicted upon her, including the identities of the perpetrators who were acquainted with the victim.
Specifically, it was established that 35-year-old M.A., on September 17, 2024, around 8:00 PM, went to the parking lot of her building on Ghapanjian Street with her associate, A.P., using a Toyota Camry. They waited for the victim to exit the building after arriving in a taxi. Upon her exit from the taxi, M.A. forcibly pulled the victim by her hair and dragged her into the Toyota Camry against her will.
After that, M.A. instructed driver A.P. to drive away from the location, which he complied with. M.A. continued to apply physical force against the victim, striking her multiple times in the head and back, sitting on her legs, and squeezing her neck with her hands.
After traveling a certain distance, the vehicle stopped, and the victim attempted to escape by opening the door and throwing herself out. However, M.A. continued to assault her, landing several blows on various parts of her body, dragging her to the rear right side of the vehicle, and attempting to pull her back inside the car by hitting her on the back of the head twice more. Nevertheless, the victim managed to escape and hide in a nearby private residence, where she called the police.
A forensic examination has been ordered to determine the nature and severity of the bodily injuries inflicted upon her. Investigators conducted a site inspection, collecting her clothing worn at the time of the incident, which revealed signs of contamination and tears. Additionally, video footage from a nearby surveillance camera has been seized for examination, and several individuals have been interrogated.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, 35-year-old M.A. was located on September 18, presented to the prosecuting authority, and arrested. Based on the gathered evidence, she has been charged under Article 195, Part 1, and Article 191, Part 2, Clause 5 of the RA Criminal Code.
A motion has been submitted to the court to choose detention as a measure of restraint, which has been granted. During the investigation, it was also revealed that M.A., motivated by personal animosity, had repeatedly threatened A.H. with murder and bodily harm between January 22 and January 24, 2024. Furthermore, on January 25, 2024, driven by the same animosity, she attempted to set fire to another individual’s vehicle, causing significant property damage to A.H.
It has also been determined that in relation to the vehicle arson case, for which there is an ongoing criminal trial, M.A. has been subject to an alternative measure of restraint, which is administrative supervision.
Within the framework of the investigation, public criminal prosecution has also been initiated against A.P., who was driving the Toyota Camry and was involved in the crime as part of a group, under Article 191, Part 2, Clause 5 of the RA Criminal Code. An arrest warrant has been issued for him, which has been assigned to the officers of the RA Police.
The investigation continues.
