Telegram to Transmit Personal Data to Law Enforcement

Telegram co-founder Pavel Durov has announced that the messenger will be able to disclose users' IP addresses and phone numbers in response to justified inquiries from relevant authorities. He clarified that this pertains to those who violate Telegram's rules and is being implemented to prevent the abuse of the messenger's internal search by criminals.

"The IP addresses and phone numbers of those who violate our rules can be disclosed to the relevant authorities in response to justified legal inquiries," Durov stated, adding that Telegram has updated its terms of service and privacy policy to align with global standards.

Durov pointed out that there have been identified cases of abuses related to the sale of illegal goods within Telegram's search. The Telegram team has deleted all problematic content from the platform in recent weeks, although he did not specify what this content was.
