Three Days of Mourning Declared in Iran
A three-day mourning period has been declared in the South Khorasan province of Iran following the death of 52 miners in a gas explosion at a coal mine. This was reported by the Mehr news agency.
It is known that the methane gas explosion occurred last night around 9:00 PM local time at the Madanjo company's mine in the city of Tabas, affecting two blocks, B and C, where 69 workers were employed.
Rescue operations have been completed in block B, where 30 of the 47 workers were killed and 17 were injured. In block C, where 22 workers were trapped, all have died.
The coal mine is located at a depth of 250 meters underground and has a length of 700 meters. The Tabas coal mine, which spans over 30,000 square kilometers, is the largest and richest coal region in Iran.
