US Secretary of State Issues Statement on Armenia's Independence Day
The United States remains unwavering in its support for the democratic aspirations, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of the Armenian people. This was stated by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in a message on the occasion of Armenia's Independence Day.
“We respect Armenia's commitment to responsible governance and the rule of law in the face of significant challenges. We will continue to defend a stable and dignified peace in the South Caucasus region,” noted Antony Blinken.
The Secretary of State emphasized that as the first country to recognize Armenia's independence, the United States is proud to continue supporting Armenia as it becomes a thriving member of the democratic community. Trade between the US and Armenia has doubled over the past decade, Blinken noted, adding that efforts are underway to diversify Armenia's energy supply and ensure the energy security of its population and the region.
“By working together, we can create greater prosperity for our peoples and the region, making the South Caucasus more connected, stable, and secure,” Blinken's message concluded.
