Trump Uses Assassination Attempt to Boost Ratings, Bloomberg Reports
Donald Trump, a Republican presidential candidate, is attempting to leverage a possible assassination attempt against him in Florida to enhance his ratings following an unsuccessful debate against Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. This is reported by Bloomberg.
Trump has accused President Joe Biden and Harris of using "extreme incendiary rhetoric," which he claims led to the assassination attempt against him at a Florida golf club. "The shooter believed Biden and Harris's rhetoric and acted accordingly. Their rhetoric has resulted in shots being fired at me while I am trying to save the country, and they are destroying it from both the inside and the outside," Trump stated in an interview with Fox News Digital.
Trump also emphasized that the Democratic Party is guilty of portraying him as a "threat to democracy," while he believes that Biden and Harris are the "real threat." According to Bloomberg, these statements and the attempt to shift responsibility for the assassination attempt onto his political opponents highlight Trump's intention to alter the trajectory of the presidential race and regain the initiative following his unsuccessful debate against Harris, which has strengthened the Democrats' position. The agency contends that the incident has diverted attention from Trump's poor performance in the debate, allowing him a new opportunity to suspend control of the presidential race agenda.
