VIDEO: New Format for Teaching History in 10th Grade

“We have conducted competitions for the guarantee and printing of textbooks, and all those subjects for which we have guaranteed textbooks have been printed. In the case of 10 textbooks, we did not have a guaranteed textbook, so the previous year's books will be used,” said Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan during a press conference.

“We have 3 textbooks that are missing, and the teaching must be organized in another way. Two of them are textbooks for the 'digital literacy' subject for 7th and 8th grades, and the other one is the history textbook for 10th grade. In the case of the latter, since we do not have a guaranteed textbook, we decided to adopt the format we want to experiment with in high school. We want to move away from the principle of being tied to one textbook in high school. We are conducting retraining sessions with our history teachers, providing them with necessary materials and teaching them how to deliver the subject through various materials. When we say that a portfolio will be used, we mean a collection of various educational materials, which in the educational vocabulary is referred to as 'portfolio.' Through this collection of educational materials, with thematic planning, teachers will conduct classes,” Andreasyan elaborated.
