228 Tons of Water, 65 Calls: Aftermath of Yesterday's Heavy Rain
The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia has provided details regarding the flooding that occurred due to heavy rain on September 13. Between 21:30 on September 13 and 00:59 on September 14, the National Crisis Management Center received 65 reports related to incidents caused by the downpour, including short circuits in power lines, blockages of storm drains, and flooding.
In Yerevan, 26 incidents were recorded across various administrative districts: Avan—1, Malatia-Sebastia—1, Kentron—18, Kanaker-Zeytun—1, Nor Norq—4, Norq Marash—1, and 1 in the Ararat region. Drainage operations were carried out in 6 cases, with rescuers removing approximately 228 tons of water from several locations.
Eight vehicles were removed from floodwaters. A total of 26 rescue teams, 7 operational groups, 5 motor pumps, and 99 rescue service personnel participated in the efforts to remove blockages caused by flooding and vehicles. Reports have been forwarded to the relevant services as necessary, and there are no casualties or injuries reported. The operations were supervised by the Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations, Fire Major-General Kamo Tsutsulyan.
