Clarifications from the Matenadaran Regarding Controversial Photoshoot
Since yesterday, a video has been circulating on social media showing a girl conducting a photoshoot near the Matenadaran building in a nearly nude state. Naturally, this has sparked intense discussions. Comments circulating online indicate that once again, this revered structure, significant to Armenians, is being defiled in this manner, which is not a mere public building.
Disgruntled users are also surprised by the lack of any established oversight. ArmLur.am contacted the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports to clarify whether it is permissible to conduct semi-nude photoshoots in the Matenadaran area; in response, they stated that the Matenadaran should answer that question.
The media outlet also reached out to the spokesperson of the Matenadaran, Emma Horopyan, who responded that the Matenadaran, of course, does not allow such formats and, in general, photoshoots on its premises. “Although I should mention that we do not refuse wedding couples to take photos in the surroundings of the Matenadaran, considering it symbolic to be the first step of a strong and beautiful family. I should also mention that we managed to find the photographer who has confirmed that this shoot took place three years ago; it has only now been published,” said the Matenadaran’s spokesperson. The current management of the Matenadaran has intensified both the surveillance of the area and internal control.
We recall that earlier, a Facebook user had reported a photoshoot in the Matenadaran area and published the video.
