US Doubles Financial Assistance to Armenia

The Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia, Mher Grigoryan, and John Allelo, the Director of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) mission in Armenia, have signed an amendment to the grant agreement aimed at fostering development cooperation between Armenia and the United States. As a result of this amendment, the funding threshold provided by USAID under the agreement has more than doubled, increasing from $120 million to $250 million, alongside an expansion of the sectors for joint programs.

The expanded agreement will include key areas such as disaster risk management, cybersecurity, food and energy security, regional cooperation and trade, democratic processes, and inclusive economic development. Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan emphasized that “for Armenia, it is not only about financial assistance but also about the democratic values promoted through our joint programs, innovative ideas, and a developed business culture. The implementation of these will enable us to carry out fundamental reforms and enhance the quality of life for our citizens.” Grigoryan expressed gratitude to the United States for supporting Armenia's ambitious reform agenda.

“This change reflects our commitment to our partnership with Armenia. By increasing the volume of our support and expanding our programs, we are helping Armenia to develop and succeed. Our collaboration with the Armenian government and ministries plays a crucial role in achieving our common goals,” stated John Allelo, the Director of the USAID mission in Armenia.
