The Kiran Fortress is the Greatest Achievement of the Third Republic: Pashinyan

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan assures that no troops have been withdrawn from Syunik and Tavush: “When you say that troops have been withdrawn from the area you call Syunik, you are opening the door for Azerbaijan to say ‘Eastern Zangezur’, ‘Western Zangezur’. You speak of troop withdrawal from Tavush, but we have not withdrawn troops from Tavush,” he stated in the National Assembly, responding to a question from Christine Vardanyan, an opposition MP from the ‘Armenia’ faction.

Pashinyan also assures that there is peace in Kiran today: “Go and see if the people of Kiran, Voskepar, and Baghanis are afraid or not,” he noted. According to the Prime Minister, everything they do is for the benefit of Armenia's state interests, regardless of whether someone concedes something or not: “Our goal is not for Azerbaijan to concede anything,” he said.

Addressing the opposition, Pashinyan indicated: “You go to sleep and wake up thinking about what Azerbaijan conceded, while I think about what Armenia has gained.” He also remarked that the Kiran Fortress is the greatest achievement of the Third Republic because, according to him, it has provided Armenia with “state borders, peace, and security, albeit in a small area.”
