Ajapahyan on Relations with Russia

The churches of Russia and Armenia must maintain friendly relations to support positive interactions between the two countries, including for a swift resolution of the conflict in Ukraine. This was stated by Archbishop Mikhail Ajapahyan, head of the Shirak Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, in an interview with Izvestia.

“Both churches need to be at the forefront to preserve the brotherly and friendly relations between the two churches, two peoples, and two countries,” he said.

The archbishop expressed that he has been deeply moved by the events surrounding the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Ajapahyan expressed his hope that the conflict in Ukraine would end very soon so that misunderstandings can be transformed into other areas and serve as a catalyst for the development of relations between Armenia and Russia.

“Disagreements always exist, even in the church, but all of these are resolved peacefully and even imperceptibly. The church provides the example of how to resolve all issues,” he emphasized.
