Details: Man Fires at Police from Car and Flee

On September 7, the National Police's Armavir division received information that 41-year-old Manuk Margaryan, a resident of Nalbandyan community in the Armavir region, was in possession of firearms. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Upon verifying the received information, at around 19:30 on the same day, officers from the National Police's Armavir division discovered Manuk Margaryan in a "VAZ 2107" vehicle within the Nalbandyan community.

According to preliminary reports, upon noticing the law enforcement officials, the 41-year-old man fired shots at the police from inside the car using an automatic weapon and then exited the vehicle, continuing to shoot before fleeing the scene.

As a result of the gunfire, Captain Hayrapet Stepanyan, an operative officer of the Armavir division, was killed, and Lieutenant Arthur Ayvazyan, a community police officer from the same division, sustained injuries and was transferred to Armavir Medical Center.

Minister of Internal Affairs Vahe Ghazaryan, Deputy Chief of Police and Minister of Internal Affairs, General-Major Aram Hovhannisyan, along with other senior officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the police, as well as operational groups from the Prosecutor's Office and Investigative Committee, arrived at the scene.

Measures were taken to apprehend the individual responsible for the crime.

Hours later, on September 8, around 2:40 AM, as a result of urgent measures taken by various units of the National Police, 41-year-old Manuk Margaryan, suspected of murder, attempted murder, and illegal possession of firearms, was located in the Nalbandyan community of Armavir region, arrested, and presented to the Investigative Committee. The firearm used in the crime was also found.

A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident, and an investigation is underway.
