The Economic University Has a New Rector

The rector of the Armenian State Economic University has been elected as Armen Grigoryan. This information is conveyed in a statement released by the university.

“Today, on September 6, under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Armenia and Chairman of the University Council, Vahagn Khachaturyan, a meeting of the university council took place. The council elected Armen Grigoryan, PhD, Associate Professor, as the rector through a closed secret ballot,” the statement reads.

One of the candidates for the rector position, Edgar Ghazaryan, had previously claimed that the election of the rector was being conducted in violation of the law. “The election of the rector of the Armenian State Economic University is being conducted with gross violations of the RA legislation and the procedures for the election of the rector. The president, who unlawfully occupies the position of chair of the council, clearly does not understand the situation and cannot ensure the legal conduct of the meeting and the voting,” Edgar Ghazaryan wrote.
