Russian Language No Longer Mandatory in Armenian Schools

In Armenia, starting from the 2024-2025 academic year, a new state educational standard has been introduced for the 2nd, 5th, and 7th grades of public schools. According to the circular from the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, the status of the Russian language in these grades has been changed from mandatory to optional foreign language status.
Simultaneously, a minimum of 2 hours per week will be allocated for each foreign language.
