McGregor Announces Presidential Run in Ireland

Conor McGregor, the first dual champion in UFC history holding titles in both featherweight and lightweight divisions, has announced his intention to run for the presidency of Ireland in the upcoming elections scheduled for 2025. He made this declaration via his page on the social media platform X.

“As president, I will have the authority to summon and dissolve the lower house of parliament. I have already stated that I need answers to all the questions the people of Ireland want from these thieves, the destroyers of small businesses and family values. Those fraudsters in high office will be held accountable,” McGregor emphasized.

The former UFC champion asserted that Ireland needs an active president from among its people, and he considers his candidacy to be “the only logical choice.”

McGregor's last fight was in the summer of 2021 at UFC 264 against American Dustin Poirier, which ended in the first round due to a leg injury he sustained. By the end of June this year, the 36-year-old McGregor was expected to return to the octagon after three years, but his fight with American Michael Chandler was canceled. Throughout his mixed martial arts career, McGregor has recorded 22 victories and 6 losses.
