Is a New Opposition Forming? - ‘Hraparak’

The newspaper ‘Hraparak’ reports that while the opposition promises a politically heated autumn and assures that active actions will resume, there are indications that certain forces and figures are initiating a realignment to form a new opposition.

Political consultations are taking place aimed at establishing a so-called centrist force, which, according to their calculations, will have great chances of winning in the upcoming elections, whether they are regular or snap, since it will not be associated with either the current or former powers.

This new force aims to unveil the mask of Armenia's pseudo-pro-Westernists by showing the public that they are servants of Nikol Pashinyan and enemies of Armenia.

According to our sources, participants in the consultations include former Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan, former Mayor Hayk Marutyan, the Armenian National Congress (ANC), the ‘Living Country’ party, Suren Surenyants, and several similar forces.

We were told that even Edmond Marukyan was considered for this alliance, but after discussions, it was concluded that his presence could harm the new bloc by associating it with Nikol Pashinyan’s name.

However, as there is still no clear format, as expected, political figures have uniformly denied the information about the consultations. ANC spokesperson Arman Musinyan stated that there is no such format, and Davit Ananyan also said he is unaware of any such initiative. Edmond Marukyan indicated that he regularly meets with ANC members, stating, “We are both members of ALDE; our meetings are in that format, and I haven’t met with others.”
