Phones, Drinking, and Leadership by "K’rutoy Tgherq" Leading to Death: Kocharyan on the Army
In the army, there are traditions such as sleeping, phone usage, and drinking, but how this leads to death has not been analyzed for years. Andranik Kocharyan, the head of the National Assembly's Defense and Security Committee and a member of the ruling party, discussed this with NEWS.am.
“Now we have found the key to solving problems in the army, that is, what indicators the internal command should ensure through education and psychological preparation. When there are deficiencies in that command structure during service, leadership is taken over by the ‘k’rutoy tgherq’ and they have remained the continuers of those traditions. This needs to be uprooted,” Kocharyan emphasized.
“There are many topics related to gambling and drugs, but several issues have retreated at this moment. For example, the institute of overseeing military units. Everything depends on whether the commander is in place or not. The personnel changes in the Armed Forces give me reason to believe that the solution lies there. If we have a command with high knowledge and high human qualities, this problem will recede,” he underscored.
