Netanyahu States Readiness for Concessions
Israel is prepared to show flexibility in negotiating a ceasefire with Hamas and the release of hostages; however, it is not planning to relinquish control of the Philadelphia corridor, stated Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
He emphasized that maintaining control over the corridor, which is the border between Gaza and Egypt, is necessary to prevent Hamas from being able to 'terrorize' both Israel and the people of the Gaza Strip.
Earlier, the Haaretz newspaper, citing a member of Israel's ruling coalition, reported that Netanyahu does not actually wish to halt military operations in Gaza and is using the Philadelphia corridor to obstruct the negotiation process.
The question of control over the Philadelphia corridor has emerged as one of the key obstacles in negotiations regarding a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. It has been reported that some parties involved in the negotiations are skeptical about reaching an agreement due to Netanyahu's stance on this issue.
