VIDEO: How Does a Taxi Driver Over 50 Without a Phone Pay Taxes? ‘You Have a Bad Opinion About Those Over 50’: Discussion in Parliament

Yesterday, a taxi driver said, “I am a 50-year-old adult, I cannot master this tax tool because I cannot use a phone.” This was stated by opposition MP Gegham Nazaryan during a meeting of the National Assembly's legal and peace affairs committee, addressing the requirement that starting September 1, it is mandatory to connect to the State Revenue Committee's electronic system for passenger transport services in Armenia and to provide an electronic receipt from an electronic cash register.

Nazaryan posed the question: “Suppose there are such people who come and say, 'We do not use the system, we do not use a phone,' are you not obliged to notify us? What are we going to answer in this case?”

In response, related speaker, MP Arpi Davoyan from the ruling Civil Contract party, noted, “The world is moving towards electronic notifications, and citizens should also be interested. Nowadays, there are no people who do not have at least one smartphone at home, or someone who would not help or look at it. Theoretically, they could ask someone, and someone would look and say something.”

According to Davoyan, most services are becoming electronic, and it is more convenient for people to use electronic services. “I understand that somewhere there is a person who says, 'I am not interested, bring the paper, give it to me, read it aloud, and take it from my hand with an option.' It will not be like that. Moreover, you have a very poor opinion about those over 50; everyone is young and developed. I believe these are solvable issues and are not critical,” added Davoyan.
