Train from Tbilisi to Batumi Crashes into Platform: Casualties Reported

On September 3, a double-decker Stadler train in Tbilisi collided with a platform. The press service of the emergency medical center of Georgia's 'Liberty' radio station has reported that as a result of the incident, two people have died.

Later, the 'Georgian Railways' company issued a statement confirming that the two casualties were employees of the company. 'The railway accident that occurred in the Didube-Avchala section resulted in the death of two Georgian Railways employees,' the message stated.

No passengers on the train were injured, the company reported. An investigation into the details of the incident is underway, with investigative actions continuing at the scene, after which the Tbilisi-Batumi train will head towards Tbilisi's central station.

Due to the accident, the Tbilisi-Batumi flight has been canceled at 5:00 PM on September 3. 'Georgian Railways' has announced that passengers will be reimbursed for the cost of the canceled tickets.
