Reasons for Not Arresting Putin Cited by Mongolia
The authorities of Mongolia have explained their refusal to arrest Russian President Vladimir Putin under an International Criminal Court warrant by citing energy dependence. This was reported by Politico.
A source from the Mongolian government stated that energy supplies from Russia are crucial for the country's economy. It was noted that Ulaanbaatar imports 95 percent of its petroleum products and over 20 percent of its electricity from neighboring countries, making these supplies essential for the livelihood of its citizens.
Additionally, the government representative pointed out that Mongolia has always pursued a policy of neutrality in all diplomatic relations. During negotiations, Putin remarked that relations between Moscow and Ulaanbaatar are currently developing in all directions.
