French President Emmanuel Macron has offered Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram, the opportunity to relocate the company’s headquarters to Paris, but Durov declined.
This information was reported by the Wall Street Journal, citing sources.
“Back in 2018, during a closed dinner, Macron suggested to Durov to move the office to Paris, but Durov refused,” the report states.
It is noteworthy that Pavel Durov was arrested at Le Bourget Airport. According to sources, he had arrived from Azerbaijan on a private jet. The case, for which the founder of the Telegram social network is being interrogated, concerns 12 criminal offenses, most of which are cybercrimes.
