Armenia Ranks Third Globally in Road Accident Fatalities

Armenia occupies the third place in the world for road accident fatalities, according to the analytical company Corestone based in Ukraine. In 2015, the study indicated that there were 114.7 fatal road accidents per one million inhabitants in Armenia.

Overall, Armenia is included in the top ten countries where the average speed in cities exceeds 50 km/h or is not legally restricted. Leading the ranking is Georgia, where 163.6 deaths per million inhabitants were recorded, followed closely by Russia with 160.4 deaths per million.

Armenia has positioned itself among the 'Emergency' countries, surpassing India (111.5) and the USA (109.5). The top ten also includes countries such as Bulgaria (98.6), Turkey (95.7), Latvia (94.5), Albania (93.5), and Ukraine (93).

Conversely, the three countries with the lowest fatality rates include Norway (22.5), Malta (25.5), and Sweden (26.4). Among the 'safest' countries are also Great Britain (27.7), Switzerland (30.5), Ireland (35.8), Spain (36.4), the Netherlands (36.7), Japan (38.3), and Israel (38.4).
