Processes Are Brewing in the CPP Against Not Only the HETC but Also 'Veolia Water'

Processes are brewing in the ruling Civil Contract Party (CPP) against not only the electricity distribution company, HETC, but also against 'Veolia Water'. During a party meeting last week, when the issues related to the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures led by Minister Gnel Sanosyan were discussed, several ordinary CPP members reportedly organized complaints about the increasing frequency of power outages and water shutoffs, according to our source. This was reported by the newspaper Hraparak.

Some spoke directly about the monopoly prevailing in these sectors, and in the case of HETC, belonging to a Russian citizen, and suggested that these sectors should be handed over to state management. However, some attendees expressed their support for private management, arguing that otherwise, losses would be greater, and we might even lose what we have today. Nevertheless, the topic has not reached its 'logical' conclusion, and no unified stance has been formed.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan refrained from expressing an opinion on the matter. As for the power outages, the minister clarified that these are due to energy produced by solar plants which enters HETC, being redistributed. Sometimes, due to excess energy, the systems can't handle it, leading to outages.

Nevertheless, in the following days, the topic was turned into a public discussion matter, with the CPP's 'civil society', represented by Daniel Ioannisyan, joining the campaign. Subsequently, the CPP's Ombudsman and a group of users began posting about starting a campaign against HETC.
