Commander of the Ararat Regional Police Force Beaten in Sevan

On August 25, the commander of the Ararat Regional Police Force, Artem Sahakyan, was assaulted in the Gegharkunik region. This information was reported by Shamshyan.com.

According to the media outlet, Sahakyan was on vacation and spending time with his family at one of the beaches in Sevan when he noticed a group of individuals exhibiting disrespectful behavior towards the public and shouting obscenities. Sahakyan urged them to cease their disrespectful conduct, which upset them, leading to him being attacked and beaten.

He sustained injuries and was transported to the “Sevan” medical center, where he received first aid before being transferred to one of the hospitals in Yerevan. A criminal case has been initiated by the Sevan investigative department regarding the incident.

The police are taking necessary operational-investigative measures to clarify the circumstances of the case and to identify and locate the individuals who assaulted Sahakyan.
