The Government Will Dissolve the Public Council
The old composition of the Public Council in Armenia will be dissolved, and a new one will create a fact-finding commission within its structure. This decision was made during today's session of the Armenian government.
Presenting the draft law on amendments to the Law of the Republic of Armenia on the Public Council, Deputy Minister of Justice Armenuhi Harutyunyan stated that this initiative stems from the political commitment to implement transitional justice and fact-finding activities, as reflected in the judicial reform strategy.
"The goal of the draft is to form a commission engaged in fact-finding activities within the council, which will examine the fundamental and regular violations of human rights in Armenia from September 21, 1991, to 2023, and will prepare a fact-finding report on these issues," said the deputy minister.
