Foreigners Banned from Working as Taxi Drivers in Leningrad Region

Sergey Zhukovsky, the prosecutor of the Leningrad region, has sent a proposal to the regional governor to impose a ban on foreign citizens working in the taxi and rental car driver sector. The proposal has been accepted.

As reported by the regional prosecutor's office, a ban on the employment of foreign citizens in the field of passenger taxis and rental vehicles with drivers has been imposed until the end of 2024 in the Leningrad region. According to the law, regional leaders have the right to impose such bans each year, taking into account the regional characteristics of the labor market and the necessity of prioritizing the employment of Russian citizens, allowing them to restrict the involvement of foreign citizens engaged in work activities based on permits in certain types of economic activities.
