Police Take Kajaran Mayor's Vehicle to Penalty Lot: Details

The police have taken the service vehicle of Manvel Paramazyan, the mayor of Kajaran in the Syunik Province of Armenia, with license plate 777 77, to a penalty lot. This information has been reported by the newspaper "Hraparak."

It has been noted that the police stopped Paramazyan and seized his vehicle without any explanation, only stating that it is under investigation. "About five police cars surrounded the mayor's SUV and forced Paramazyan to exit the vehicle. Manvel Paramazyan has described these actions as a cheap tactic against him," the newspaper reports.

When asked whether the law enforcement officers seized the vehicle as part of any legal proceedings, given that his property is under arrest, Paramazyan emphasized that this vehicle does not belong to him. "This vehicle is not my property; it belongs to the combine, which was given not to Manvel Paramazyan, but to the mayor of Kajaran. It has always been like that. It has been with law enforcement for a week now, and they have provided no explanation. They stopped it during the process, saying it is under investigation, and took it away," said the mayor of Kajaran.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia also informed the publication that inspections are underway, but there is no further comment; meanwhile, the Investigative Committee stated that they have no involvement in the seizure or search of Manvel Paramazyan's service vehicle.

It should be noted that on August 12, it became known that the Armenian Prosecutor's Office is demanding the confiscation of six immovable and two movable properties from Manvel Paramazyan, as well as approximately 1 billion drams.

Recall that in 2021, Manvel Paramazyan was charged with aiding or organizing fraud, accepting bribes, bribing voters, accepting bribes, violating the ban on charity during elections, or obstructing the exercise of voters’ free will. He was detained on July 10, 2021, but a decision was made on December 18 to release him on a bail of 70 million drams. He was re-arrested on February 7, 2022, but on May 2, the court decided to release Paramazyan on a bail of 50 million drams.
