I believe we have serious issues regarding security assurance. This was stated today, August 20, by former Armenian Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan during a conversation with journalists, who has recently been released after three years of detention.

“I tell both the opposition and the authorities that I can be a participant in this, but not for political purposes,” he noted.

When asked why the political authority punished him, Tonoyan said, “I know why.”

Referring to the condition of the missiles, which have been deemed unfit, the former minister expressed hope that a new examination would be assigned for the missiles: “I declare with full responsibility that at the time of purchase, after the purchase, and even today these missiles are fit for use.”

Regarding the possibility of joining the opposition side, Tonoyan replied, “Do I create the impression of such an unserious person? I still have no desire to engage in politics. This is a matter of fighting for power; otherwise, I have been in security policy for 30 years.”
