Many Healthcare Facilities in Tavush are in Deteriorating Condition, Says Journalist

Many healthcare facilities in Tavush are in poor condition, yet they are not being renovated and new buildings are not being constructed, warns Tavush journalist Voskay Sarghisyan.

The journalist has sent an inquiry to Tavush governor Hayk Ghahramanyan asking how many of the regional state healthcare facilities require renovation or major repairs.

The governor's office responded: “Of the 21 healthcare institutions under the authority of the Tavush Regional Governor’s Office (as well as the 39 medical and maternity points operating under them), the following medical institutions and their corresponding medical-maternity points require renovation, major renovation, or new construction:

1. Internal Gosh Medical Point of Haghartsin Community Health Center - requires new construction or a new trailer.
2. Getahovit Community Health Center - requires new building construction.
3. Ijavan Community Health Center, Lusadzor Medical Point - requires major renovation.
4. Aygehovit Community Health Center, Kayayanavan Medical Point - requires major renovation.
5. Khashtarak Community Health Center, Lusahatov Medical Point - requires major renovation.
6. Sevqar Community Health Center, Acharqut and Sarigyugh Medical Points - require major renovation.
7. Navur Community Health Center, Itzakar Medical Point - requires major renovation.
8. Noemberyan Medical Center, Pediatric and Infectious Disease Departments need construction, and Jugevan Medical Point requires major renovation.
9. Ayrum Community Health Center - requires new building construction.
10. Voskavan Community Health Center, Voskepat Medical Point - requires major renovation.
11. Koghbi Community Health Center - requires new building construction.
12. Bagratashen Community Health Center, Debedavan Medical Point - requires major renovation.
13. Zorakan Community Health Center, Vankavan Medical Point - requires major renovation.

The journalist has sent another inquiry to Governor Ghahramanyan asking how many healthcare facilities in Tavush are currently under construction or renovation, and what the financing amount for each case is.

The governor's office responded: “There are currently no healthcare organizations under renovation or construction under the direction of the Tavush Regional Governor’s Office.”

Sarghisyan noted, “Instead of directing public budget funds towards the renovation of healthcare institution buildings, they are allocated for the bonuses of the officials at the governor's office. As of July 15, 2024, employees of the Tavush governor’s office have received a total of 33 million 484 thousand 235 drams in bonuses.”
