Gaza Faces Water Crisis as Wells Are Destroyed

The water crisis in southern Gaza, which provides Palestinians with access to water, is deepening as Israeli military forces are destroying wells, water reservoirs, pumping stations, and piping networks. This was reported by Al Jazeera.

According to a report from the city of Khan Younis, four out of the five main water reservoirs in the city have been destroyed due to ongoing Israeli operations in Gaza that have lasted for 11 months. Damage has been inflicted on wells, reservoirs, and piping networks, effectively depriving the local population of access to water supply.

The situation in the Middle East escalated sharply on October 7, 2023, after armed fighters from the Palestinian Hamas movement infiltrated Israeli territory from Gaza, which was accompanied by the killing of residents in border settlements. Additionally, members of Hamas had also taken more than 240 Israelis hostage.

In response, Israel initiated military operations in this Palestinian enclave, declaring its intention to completely eliminate Hamas. Military actions in Gaza continue to this day, resulting in the deaths of dozens of people daily.
