Lilit T.
The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs' Service Agency has started issuing international driving permits based on the Geneva Convention on Road Traffic, which was signed on September 19, 1949. This was announced in a statement posted on the agency's Facebook page.
International permits will be issued for a duration of one year based on the national driving license. The document will be valid outside of Georgia in countries that have signed the Geneva Convention, the agency added.
As explained to TASS by the Service Agency, previously international driving permits in Georgia were issued based on the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic signed on November 8, 1968. This practice will continue.
