Who Are the Candidates for the Vacancy on the Public Television Council? "Jamanak"

According to the "Jamanak" newspaper, the temporary competition committee formed to fill the vacancy on the Public Broadcaster's Council summarized the process of accepting candidate documents on August 12.

In total, seven candidates applied to participate in the competition for the vacant Public Television Council member position:

1. Elmira Arsenyan
2. Knarik Arakelyan
3. Zara Aramyan
4. Irina Shakhnazaryan
5. Ofelia Asatryan
6. Margarita Minasyan
7. Noone Elmasyan

Who are these candidates?

Elmira Arsenyan has worked for many years at the public television station, where she was a producer of the “Third Channel” program, created in collaboration with Karen Kocharyan and Artavazd Yeghoyan, from its inception until its closure.

Knarik Arakelyan is a PR specialist who worked during Serzh Sargsyan's presidency.

Zara Aramyan worked at the Armenian National Radio's editorial office for international broadcasts, leading the newly established Russian-language division. In 2014, she was awarded the title of Honored Figure of Armenian Culture by the President of Armenia.

Irina Shakhnazaryan has no connection to television or radio; she is a researcher by profession.

Ofelia Asatryan is one of the longest-serving employees at public radio, having worked in the literary division. She is a close associate of former Culture Minister Hovik Hoveyan, with whom she has worked for many years.

Margarita Minasyan is the director of Gyumri’s “Tsayg” television company. She is the mother of Nazeli Baghdasaryan, spokesperson for Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, from whom the future course of the competition is already clear.

It is worth noting that a similar fate befell Gagik Khumaryan, who was removed from his position as radio director because he was considered a candidate close to the current authorities. The same might be expected in this case: a competition without real competition.
