Mysterious Incident in Gegharkunik: Woman's Body and a Makarov Pistol Found at Home

Today, August 13, a suicide involving a firearm occurred in Gegharkunik Province. At around 3:40 PM, operational information was received by the Gegharkunik regional department of the Police of the Republic of Armenia and the Vardenis division that there was a woman's body in a private house in one of the province's villages.

According to Shamshyan, the law enforcement authorities discovered the body of 36-year-old Astghik Kh. from the same village, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the head. A Makarov-type pistol was found near the body.

Preliminary information suggests that the woman died by suicide using the indicated firearm. According to sources, she was found dead by her husband.

A criminal case has been initiated in the Vardenis investigation department regarding the incident. The investigator has ordered several examinations, including forensic medical, ballistic, and trace examinations. The Makarov-type pistol has been seized by the investigator.
