Closing Ceremony of the Olympics in Paris Turns into New Scandal
The closing ceremony of the Olympic Games has turned into yet another scandal. Following the controversial imitation of Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper," the depiction of a falling man on the closing poster is now reminiscent of Lucifer's fall. For many, this image conjures associations with the fallen angel from French artist Gustave Doré's poem "Paradise Lost."
The Paris Olympics are being referred to as the most scandalous in history. Recent media coverage has focused on the local security services' preparedness, instances of athlete poisoning in the Seine River, and various thefts.
The logical conclusion to the Paris Olympic Games was to be the speech by the French president; however, the crowd began to jeer and prevented Macron from starting his address.
