Boxer Iman Khalif, Who Failed Gender Test, Becomes Olympic Gold Medalist
Algerian boxer Iman Khalif, who failed a gender test, has become the Olympic gold medalist in the under-66 kg weight category at the Paris Olympic Games. In the final match held on August 9, she won decisively against Chinese athlete Yan Luyin with a unanimous decision of 5:0.

In 2023, Khalif failed a gender test and was disqualified during the World Championships after testing positive for holding XY chromosomes. The disqualification was pronounced by the International Boxing Association (IBA). However, the International Olympic Committee permitted her to compete in the Paris Games.
This victory marks Algeria's first Olympic win in women's boxing history. For Khalif, this medal is also her first Olympic medal.
