VIDEO: The Unblocking Should Occur Under Armenia's Sovereignty – Mehdi Sobhani

We support the unblocking; however, it must occur under Armenia's sovereignty. This was stated today, on August 9, by the Iranian ambassador to Armenia, Mehdi Sobhani, during a conversation with journalists, regarding Baku's removal of the unblocking clause from the 'Peace Treaty'.

“We support the unblocking; however, it must occur under Armenia's sovereignty,” emphasized the Iranian ambassador to Armenia.

In response to the question of what consequences the postponement of the unblocking would bring, Mehdi Sobhani replied, “Naturally, if unblocking occurs, traffic will also increase as a result, but there must be mutual agreements and consent regarding this matter. If an agreement is reached, it means we are getting closer to peace. This is beneficial for the region and the peoples of the region. We support any actions aimed at establishing sustainable peace.”
