Paris Mayor Claims No Olympians Became Ill After Swimming in Seine

None of the participants in the Paris Olympic Games have fallen ill as a result of swimming in the Seine River. This was announced by Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo during a broadcast on BFM TV radio.

“There is absolutely no athlete who has fallen ill due to swimming in the Seine, or who will withdraw from the competition because of swimming there: it is false, that is proven,” said Hidalgo.

It was previously reported that after the competitions, gastrointestinal infections were detected in a representative from Kazakhstan and two Belgian athletes. Several other athletes have criticized the quality of the river water and the organization of the events.
