It Would Be a Great Benefit If They Could Finally Travel to Europe Without a Visa: Swiss MP
Stefan Müller-Altermatt, a member of the National Council of Switzerland, characterized the European Union’s decision to allocate 10 million euros to Armenia from the European Peace Facility as a commitment to stand alongside Yerevan in military terms.
In an interview with Armenpress, the Swiss MP expressed this view, noting that it is still difficult to assess what the actual impact of these funds will be at the operational and technical level. According to the MP, this will need to be evaluated in the coming time.
Speaking about the European Commission's decision to start dialogue on the liberalization of the visa regime with Armenia, Müller-Altermatt expressed the opinion that the freer the movement of people, the closer the relations between countries will become. Therefore, the liberalization of visas also holds significant value for the Republic of Armenia.
“The liberalization of visas will be a unique symbol of Yerevan’s reorientation from Moscow towards Brussels. Conversely, it confirms that Brussels has understood this reorientation,” emphasized the MP when asked how much the EU’s decision can strengthen and deepen Armenia-EU relations, and what importance it could have for official Yerevan.
According to him, aside from all this, it would also be a great benefit for the population if they could finally travel to Europe without a visa. “All my Armenian friends are suffering from the bureaucracy of visa requirements,” concluded Stefan Müller-Altermatt in his conversation with the media.
