VIDEO. Protesters Destroy Statue of Prime Minister Hasina's Father in Bangladesh

Protesters in Bangladesh are attempting to dismantle the statue of the country’s first leader and ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's father, Mujibur Rahman, as reported by the Daily Observer portal.

“In the capital Dhaka, the statue of the Father of the Nation... Mujibur Rahman is being destroyed,” the article states. On Monday, a group of people was observed trying to smash the statue with hammers,” it continues.

The statue was unveiled last November. Protesters have also set fire to the memorial of Hasina's father, Mujibur Rahman, according to the Dhaka Tribune.
