Azerbaijan Must Facilitate the Return of Artsakh Armenians to Their Ancestral Homes: Klaar
I hope that the pages of enmity and violence can finally be turned once and for all, for the benefit of all residents of the region, including the Armenians of Artsakh. This was stated in an interview with jam-news.net by Toivo Klaar, the Special Representative of the EU for the South Caucasus.
“The EU is very clear on this issue, and that is also my expectation, that the Armenians of Artsakh will participate in the negotiation process, and that there will be direct negotiations between Baku and them about their safe and dignified return to their homeland region. Azerbaijan truly has an obligation in this regard, which I think it does not deny. The parameters and conditions for such a future should be found and agreed upon through inclusive and mutual respectful dialogue. For me, normalization means having no open wounds, and therefore, this issue should be part of a broader peace process,” Klaar said.
He also emphasized that sometimes other issues arise in this context, such as the so-called
