The U.S. Sends Ships and Aircraft to the Middle East
The United States is sending additional ships and aircraft to the Middle East to defend American forces stationed in the region and to support Israel, while also bolstering missile defense systems. According to Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh, the Department of Defense is taking steps to minimize the likelihood of escalation in the region by Iran, its allies, and forces under the Islamic Republic's control.
She noted that this decision was made following a phone conversation between the U.S. President and the Israeli Prime Minister that took place yesterday.
Recently, following the assassination of Hamas political bureau leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and a senior commander of Hezbollah in Beirut, Iran, Hamas, and the Lebanese group Hezbollah have vowed to respond to Israeli actions.
The Israeli side has stated that they do not desire a large-scale war but are prepared for any scenario.
