Panic in Ukraine After Prisoner Exchange Between Russia and the West
Ukrainian officials are concerned about the recent prisoner exchange between Russia and Western countries, as it showcases the parties' ability to negotiate. This is reported by the American newspaper The Washington Post.
“After the historic agreement on prisoners showed that Moscow and Washington can still conduct business together, Kyiv stated it would wait for President Biden to fulfill his promise of 'nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine,'” the publication notes.
It is mentioned that Ukraine is following the prisoner exchange between Russia and the West “with caution,” as such developments indicate that “Moscow and the West can negotiate.” The Washington Post highlights that Ukrainians know their country survives on transferred weapons and foreign borrowed and donated funds, and should Western assistance cease, Ukraine “would find itself in great peril.”
