Last Commander of the Defense Army Becomes Advisor to Defense Minister Suren Papikyan - 'Zhoghovurd'
'Zhoghovurd' newspaper reports that Kamo Vardanian, the last commander of the Defense Army of the Artsakh Republic, has been appointed as an advisor to the Minister of Defense of Armenia, Suren Papikyan. This was confirmed in a conversation with Kamo Vardanian himself (by nickname 'Tiv').
It is worth recalling that one year after the end of the 2020 war, on September 11, General-Major Kamo Vardanian was appointed as the Minister of Defense and Commander of the Defense Army of the Artsakh Republic by the decree of President Arayik Harutyunyan. During his command, Artsakh was handed over to the adversary. Furthermore, before the transfer of Artsakh, Kamo Vardanian elegantly handed over the entire arsenal of the republic to Azerbaijan. It is also possible that the surrender of the homeland and armaments had its price. Kamo Vardanian and the President of Artsakh, Samvel Shahramanyan, were on the same flight returning from Artsakh and landed in Sisian.
Currently, Shahramanyan accuses Nikol Pashinyan of surrendering Artsakh, while Vardanian is appointed to a position under Pashinyan’s government, creating a perplexing situation. 'Zhoghovurd' newspaper asked Kamo Vardanian about how he received a new position after surrendering the homeland as the last commander of the Defense Army, to which he responded: 'Mr. Vardanian stayed in the Defense Army until the last people left, to look for the fallen and missing servicemen. Under what circumstances did I leave… That's how it happened.'
When we insisted that the position is worth more than not surrendering the homeland, he replied: 'Kamo Vardanian survived by chance, not only in the last but in all wars, that is all.'
