Instagram Blocked in Turkey
Mariam Z.
Instagram has been blocked in Turkey as of Friday morning, following a decision by the country's Technology and Communications Authority. The reasons and duration of the blockage have not been specified on the agency's website.
The Birgün newspaper suggests that this decision may have been made in connection with the blocking of condolences on Instagram related to the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas' political bureau in Iran. This decision has been condemned by Fahrettin Altun, the head of the Turkish Presidential Communications Directorate.
