Russia Implements Ban on Gasoline Exports
On August 1, a ban on gasoline exports came into effect in Russia, which will last until the end of October. No similar measures have been taken regarding diesel fuel, according to TASS.
First Deputy Minister of Energy Pavel Sorokin stated that the government made this decision to stabilize the market, ensure adequate supply, and prevent a sharp increase in prices, including wholesale prices.
The ban on gasoline exports from the Russian Federation was previously in place from September 21 to November 17, 2023, aimed at stabilizing the pricing situation in the domestic market for motor fuel. Similar measures were also applied to diesel fuel.
Furthermore, the Russian government had established a temporary ban on gasoline exports from March 1 to August 31, 2024, although this was suspended from late May to the end of July.
