US Not Involved in Hamas Chief's Death, Blinken Says
The United States is not involved in the death of Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of the Palestinian Hamas movement’s political bureau, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken told CNA platform.
According to him, the U.S. had no prior knowledge of the planned action and is not connected to Haniyeh’s death.
When asked whether the assassination of the Hamas chief would change the course of the war in Gaza, Blinken gave an ambiguous response. “It is very difficult to predict, and over the years I have learned that one should never assume what impact one event will have on another,” he said, while also noting the necessity to help “end the suffering of the Palestinians in Gaza.”
It should be reminded that earlier, Iran had announced that the U.S. is an accomplice in the assassination of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh and should be held accountable.
