Stray Dog Attacks 6-Year-Old Girl on Way to Kindergarten, Taken Home Injured and Then Hospitalized
On July 22, an extraordinary incident occurred in the Gegharkunik region. Around 08:40 in the morning, a stray dog attacked and injured a 6-year-old girl on the way to one of the kindergartens in the town of Gavar, reports Shamshyan.com.
The child was transported to the 'Gavar' medical center with injuries. Today, July 24, during a conversation with a correspondent from the website, the girl's father said, "On Monday morning, my 6-year-old daughter was accompanied by her older sister, who is 10, and her brother, who is 12, when a stray dog attacked my daughter near the kindergarten, close to the electrical station, and caused injuries. The older sister and brother managed to scare the dog away with stones and freed their sister from the dog’s grip, bringing her home completely covered in blood. We then took her to the hospital, where several stitches were placed before we were sent home."
He continued, "We have approached the Gavar municipality and the regional administration, but everyone says that they do not have jurisdiction and that we should contact the Ministry of Environment. Unfortunately, this is not the first case in the village. This is already the umpteenth time that a stray dog has attacked people. Such incidents are also frequently reported in neighboring villages. We are appealing to the Ministry of Environment to take action and finally resolve this issue. We are not saying that the dogs should be killed, but they can be collected and kept in one place. If this time the incident ended like this, we cannot say what the outcome will be next time."
