Ararat-Armenia Releases Official Statement Following Yesterday's Incident
The Ararat-Armenia football club has denied claims that several dozen passengers were unable to board the Yerevan-Chisinau flight due to the club's fault. The football club has issued an official statement.
"The information suggesting that some passengers missed the flight because of us is completely unfounded," the statement reads.
Earlier, it was reported that several dozen passengers were unable to depart on the Yerevan-Chisinau-Yerevan flight. In an interview with Sputnik Armenia, Aram Ananyan, the chairman of the board of FlyOne Armenia airline, stated that a change in the aircraft (a smaller plane arrived) occurred due to operational necessities.
One of the passengers who missed the flight told the media that instead of the passengers who "got left behind," players from the Ararat-Armenia club flew on the flight.
The club states that they had purchased tickets in advance on a general basis. Their team was also forced to wait for about 4.5 hours, departing late and essentially violating the pre-match schedule.
The club requests that their name not be exploited.
It is noteworthy that Ararat-Armenia represents Armenia in the UEFA Conference League qualification in the first leg against Zimbru in Chisinau.
Additionally, Aram Ananyan mentioned in an interview that following the aircraft change, the system automatically reallocated passengers to a smaller capacity plane. This explains the incidents where some family members were able to depart while others were not.
