Assassination Attempt Against Ivanishvili: What We Know

The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, has stated that the assassination attempt against Bidzina Ivanishvili, the honorary president of the ruling "Georgian Dream" party, is the work of the same political forces that have attempted similar acts in Slovakia and the USA against Prime Minister Robert Fico and presidential candidate Donald Trump.

“Recently, there have been two terrorist acts—one in Slovakia and the other in the USA. This is a unified signature that describes global political forces,” Kobakhidze remarked during a press briefing, commenting on the investigation into the assassination attempt against Ivanishvili by the State Security Service.

Earlier, the Georgian State Security Service reported that it is investigating the preparations for the assassination of Ivanishvili. According to the intelligence, the preparations were organized and financed by former Georgian officials residing in Ukraine.

Additionally, the Imedi TV channel reported that a terrorist attack was being prepared against Bidzina Ivanishvili and other senior members of the party, with suspects already being interrogated for several days. Most of them are mercenaries who fought in Ukraine.

Active investigative and operational search measures are underway, and several individuals have been questioned as witnesses.
